Pastor Del Morgan

Del serves part-time as Covenant’s Worship leader. He is founder and Executive Director of LAMPLIGHT ARTISTS, a non-profit organization bringing light, truth, and hope into contemporary culture through the arts. Del served as Covenant’s full-time Worship and Senior Associate Pastor from 1999-2003, and then in a leap of faith, moved to part-time status and began pursuing LAMPLIGHT ARTISTS full-time.
In 2003 Lamplight Artists partnered with the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware to create the MID-ATLANTIC YOUTH PERFORMING ARTS CAMP. The camp is an exciting performing and visual arts experience for youth grades 7-12 held each summer in the mountains of central Maryland. It has grown from 60 students to approximately 150 students annually, with a great artistic teaching faculty and experienced ministry staff. In 2007 Lamplight Artists is making plans to launch STUDIO 516, a training and discipleship program for the performing and visual arts.
Del is also the creator/director of ALL ABOUT KIDS PRODUCTIONS (AAKP), a Lamplight Artists’ performing arts day camp for children who have completed grades 1-6. Beginning with one camp of 50 children in the summer of 2002 it has experienced significant growth. In 2006 the summer staff produced 11 camps in 3 states, and had the awesome opportunity of leading the Franklin Graham KIDZFEST choir at Camden Yards in July. When all was said and done the AAKP teams had ministered to over 900 children and performed for more than 7,000 family and friends! In the summer 0f 2007 there will be 24 camps in 4 states, ministering to approximately 1200 children, 360 church volunteer staff, and administered by more than 30 artistic summer staff team members.
Del and his wife, Connie, a third grade teacher at Bushy Park Elementary in Western Howard County, met as college students in South Louisiana at the university known as the home of the Ragin’ Cajuns (University of Louisiana at Lafayette). He started his college career as an art major … because he needed a major so he could play baseball at the university. After a year of art and college ball, God strengthened His call and Del responded by leaving both in the pursuit of a degree in music. The journey has been rich and varied.
Del enjoys traveling, sports, movies, the creative moment, and developing new ways to share the Gospel. He and Connie have four children: Rachel, Michael, Danielle, and Lana.
