Walking by Faith, Not by Sight
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)
Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:7 that faith—not what we can see with our eyes—is the foundation for how Christians live. When we walk by faith, we trust God's promises and guidance even when circumstances appear uncertain or contradictory to our senses. This verse calls us to order our lives around trust in God rather than dependence on visible evidence alone.
Today, you may face a decision where the logical choice seems risky, or a situation where what you see discourages you but your faith whispers hope. Walking by faith means proceeding with your goals, relationships, or callings even when immediate proof of success isn't visible. It's choosing to take the next step toward your purpose because you trust God's character, not because you can already see the destination.
One Step of Faith Beyond Sight
- 1Identify one area where fear of the unseen is holding you back—whether it's a conversation, a decision, or a commitment—and journal why you're hesitant.
- 2Choose one concrete action today that demonstrates faith over sight: act as though God is trustworthy even though you cannot yet see the outcome.
- 3At day's end, reflect on how taking that step felt and what it revealed about your trust in God.
Lord, strengthen my faith today so that I walk confidently toward what You've called me to, even when I cannot yet see where the path leads.
What is one area of your life right now where you're being invited to trust God's character more than your own visual evidence?
