Walking by Faith When You Can't See the Path
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)
When Paul writes 'we walk by faith, not by sight,' he means that our daily journey with God is guided by trust in Him rather than by what our eyes can perceive or what circumstances appear to show us. Faith is the substance of things hoped for—it's moving forward with confidence in God's character and promises even when the physical evidence or immediate outcome remains hidden.
Today you may face a decision where the wise choice isn't the easiest to see, or you're navigating uncertainty that makes you want to wait for perfect clarity. Walking by faith means taking the next step forward in obedience to what you know God has called you to do, trusting His guidance even when doubt whispers that you should see everything first. This isn't recklessness; it's anchoring your confidence in God's faithfulness rather than in favorable circumstances.
One Step of Faith
- 1Identify one area where you're waiting to 'see' before you act—a relationship need, a calling, a decision—and write it down
- 2Ask God to show you one concrete, faithful step you can take today, regardless of the outcome you can currently see
- 3Take that step and journal how it felt to move forward by trust rather than by sight
Jesus, strengthen my faith today to take the next step forward, trusting You even when I cannot see where the path leads.
What is one area of my life right now where God is inviting me to trust Him more than I trust what I can see?
